Wine tasting

Saturday myself and three friends went on a mini road-trip to the Stellenbosch wine-lands. We stopped at three farms and took part in some tastings and tours around the cellars.

We stopped at Van Rhyn which is a Brandy Distillery, they took us step by step through the process on how Brandy is Distilled from the get go up until the 20th year of maturation.

JC le Roux was one of stops and as all South Africans know, its the most local and famous sparkling wine in our Country. They also produce Champagne although they are not aloud to refer to it as such.

Here we are at Bergkerlder, it is a cellar that was built inside a mountain, its cool down there and keeps the wine at the perfect temps. Years ago some farms and winemakers would rent spaces in the cellar and store their wines there. Now Bergkelder makes their own wines from grapes they buy from different but all local farms in South Africa.

It was a lovely day to spend in the outskirts of Cape Town and realize that we have some of the best wines in the world and its just around the corner from where we live. I am so blessed to live here :)
